 Motherboard Configuration
Prepare CPU Memory Install Case Drives Boot Up
OK, you are ready and prepared to assemble the computer.

Configuration of the motherboard is really easy when you have read the manual that comes with the motherboard (you did get the manual right?

if not try the manufacturers web site or helpdesk, but you really want the manual). Having read through it and understood it, you shouldn't really need me to tell you what to do!

Basically, configuring the motherboard should just be a case of setting a 'jumper' or 'dip switch' or two. A jumper is a simple form of switch which is switched on using a small electrical connector (this is where those pliers come in handy), a dip switch is a painfully small switch mounted on the circuit board, best set with a small screwdriver.

Just to confuse things further, some motherboards have neither dip switches or jumpers, and instead settings are made in a software program or automatically by the board. This should be obvious from the manual. Once the board is set up, check it again against the manual, better safe than sorry! Well, thats the difficult bit done.
